The Holland family is among the pillars of the Central California almond industry. Vertically integrated, multi-generational, with notable volumes; the first to plant almond trees in the fertile farmland of Kerman. That’s the legacy George Holland is most proud of, despite his storied past as a successful factory-sponsored pro motocross motorcycle racer. Those first Kerman almond orchards performed so well, George and his father built a farming operation on them: Holland Nut Company.
From humble beginnings in the late 1970s, George, on his father’s advice funneled his motocross winnings into almonds and the fertile soil of the Valley. Steadily, the business expanded, adding more acres and more nut varieties as the years rolled by.
It wasn’t long before George saw the opportunity to grow vertically into processing knowing the Holland way would lead to success here as well. In response, the family established its processing company, Holland Processing, in 2002. It wasn’t long before other growers saw what was going on and were entrusting the company with taking their products to market.
To continue toward vertical integration and to ensure they provided the complete spectrum of services for nut growers, the firm launched Holland Hulling in 2015.
While the businesses have grown through the years in size, scope, and sophistication, these Holland enterprises are still very much a family business at heart. Each one operates the Holland way, with the same core values that have guided the family’s success all along: a keen eye on success, the dedication to do whatever it takes blended with a down to earth, personal, hands-on approach to quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and customer satisfaction.
